Parker-Haar Charities, Inc .
The Strength of People. The Power of Community.
For the people, not for profit.
Rebecca “Becky” Parker and Kimberly “ Kim” Haar are two women with big hearts; friends since high school, went into business together several years ago with Arbonne International, a Swiss formulated skin care, health, and wellness company. In 2008, through Arbonne; Becky and Kim started sending their products in care packages to soldiers overseas as part of Operation Gratitude. After hosting a variety of fundraising events in support of Operation Gratitude; Parker-Haar Charities, Inc. was founded.
It wasn’t until longtime friends suffered the tragic loss of their daughter, did Becky and Kim realize the need to support their community in times of tragedy. Sammy Jo Day in the Park was then planned to raise much needed funds to help the family with burial expenses and other expenses after the accidental shooting of 14 year old Sammy Jo. Becky and Kim not only raised funds for the family but provided the community with much needed gun safety awareness, 1000 gun locks, and with the assistance from Miami- Dade Police Department and local High School students 18,000 door hangers were put on doors throughout the community of Cutler Bay, FL.
Not more than 6 months later tragedy struck close to home and on July 16, 2010 Becky lost her husband Bobby in a horrific accident at their home. After months of feeling lost and in need of some hope, Kim suggested a fishing tournament in the memory of Bobby. Becky got off the couch and they got to work. Two months later on the anniversary of Bobby’s death, Parker-Haar Charities, Inc. presented the 1st Annual Hook for Hope Dolphin Tournament at Black Point Marina supporting families in the face of Tragedy. The tournament was such a huge success it is now their annual signature event honoring Bobby Parker’s memory. The funds raised at the tournament each year goes to a family or families suffering to help them financially during their difficult time honoring the work Bobby did as a Coral Gables Fire Fighter.
Becky and Kim and their big hearts have continued to support their community with various fundraising events and always giving hope those around them.
The event is held annually in July at Black Point Ocean Grill and Marina in memory of Bobby Parker supporting those in our community that have suffered through a family tragedy.
We just completed our 5th Tournament on July 18, 2015 and it was another great success with many thanks to our anglers, sponsors, donors, and community support.
